As the half term holidays came to an end, the new half term started with a week full of diverse activities. Budding artists from Years 8-10 enjoyed participating in the Criw Celf art workshop and we are grateful to the artists who visited the school to lead these workshops. Aspiring dancers from Years 7-9 were also given the opportunity to hone their dancing skills in a Dance Workshop on Thursday held by Powys Dance. Year 7 enjoyed operatic performances on Wednesday, as Mid Wales Opera held an assembly, with singers Nicholas Morton and Chanae Curtis. It was most encouraging to hear Mid Wales Opera’s comments and their very positive views on our Year 7 pupils’ response to their presentation. Year 10 PE GCSE pupils were also given a very positive accolade as they assisted in the primary schools’ indoor athletics competition, which was hosted at Ysgol Uwchradd Caereinion. Our pupils were praised for their courtesy, the clarity of their explanations and their encouragement to younger pupils. Our under 14 rugby team played very well against Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy Llanrwst, but unfortunately failed to secure a victory. Year 10 and Year 11 pupils were given an opportunity on Tuesday evening to view a performance of their set book ‘Of Mice and Men’ in Theatr Clwyd. It was a valuable opportunity to see a live performance of a book which will form an important part of their English Literature GCSE examination.

Congratulations to the following form groups who had the highest levels of attendance during the first half term of the Spring term – 9B in first place, 7C and 11M in second and third positions. I wonder which forms will gain the three highest positions for this new half term.
