So as we start 2019, and just at the end of the first full week of the new academic term, I pose a question. What do you want from a school?
Sport? Today, Caereinon School Girls Hockey U’16s play rivals Christ College, Brecon, in a cup final while next week over 20 pupils will take part in the indoor athletics championship. These representative events are in addition to the daily school-based activities supported by the Community Sport Team. Discussions for a ski trip in 2020 have already been held.
Or are you looking for a school with a cultural and music ethos? Next December we will present “Hairspray The Musical” while later this term we will host an eisteddfod to celebrate our national heritage and reinforce our bilingualism. Supported by piano and brass lessons, the school will be planning for the introduction of drama into the curriculum.
Maybe you are considering a school with a charitable focus? Step forward Year 8 learner, JJ, who raised over £2000 for Lingen Davies after his Grandfather was diagnosed with cancer.
Or indeed looking for an academic approach? Year 11 have just received their mock results presented in an empathetic “results day” scenario, while also starting their individual mentoring sessions with members of staff.
We will be providing a Skills Revision Session for Year 11 Parents on Wednesday the 23rd of January at 6p.m. which will help you support your child’s revision ready for the GCSE exams this summer.
Year 10 begin their mock examinations next week and Year 12 continue their examination after they started earlier this week. Collaborative provision with Cambrian Training is being sought while staff are involved in developing Welsh Language resources across the Authority.
Or in this ever-changing education landscape, you seek a Governing Body who consider the transformation agenda for the County and look to work collaboratively for the community? This week the Governing Bodies of both Caereinion and Llanfair Primary School met to discuss a provision that will develop a legacy for the area.
Looking for a school with sport, music and culture, Charity and community focused underpinned by a dedicated staff, respectful learners and a supportive Governing Body?
I just became Headteacher of such a school. Just one week into my post. A sincere thank you for the warm welcome.
