Subject Statement for Design and Technology – Resistant Materials KS4
The GCSE course in Resistant Materials Technology consist of two units.
Unit 1: Design/theory examination (2 hours) where pupils need to apply relevant knowledge and understanding of a range of technological activities, industrial and commercial practices to answer questions (40%).
Unit 2: Controlled assessment task (30 hours). Pupils will be required to complete a 15 page design folio and practical work to demonstrate their ability to design, make and evaluate quality products in a range of resistant materials such as wood, metal and plastic. (60%).
