Head Teachers Blog Pennaeth

It has been a short but busy week and we have now reached the end of a long term. Pupils and staff were seasonally dressed on the last day of term, displaying a very interesting collection of Christmas jumpers. The non-uniform day as well as the cake stall during break time were very carefully organised by the sixth form. An honourable sum of money was raised and will be shared between Welsh Air Ambulance and the school. The day came to a close with a short assembly and some musical items. We are grateful to Mr Osian Davies for organising these items and also to the sixth form for their work in organising the fund-raising activities.
We wish Mrs Nicola Barnes (Mathematics) well as she leaves the school at the end of this term. Mrs Barnes has been a highly respected member of staff who has served the school well for many years and we are very grateful to her for her hard work. We also wish Mrs Catrin Jones (PE) well as she starts on her maternity leave.
I wish you all a most enjoyable Christmas and trust and hope that 2018 will be a happy and successful year to you as individuals and to us as a school.

Year 11 Mock Exams

Due to school closure, we will have to amend the Year 11 mock exams. The timetable will be as follows:
Oherwydd i’r ysgol fod ar gau fe fydd yn rhaid diwygio amserlen y ffugbrofion. Bydd yr amserlen newydd fel a ganlyn:

Thursday/Dydd Iau – Mamiaith and Ailiaith (WelshCymraeg), Biology/Bioleg and Option 2 subjects/pynciau Opsiwn 2 ( DT/DaTh, History/Hanes, Music /Cerdd and Spanish/Sbaeneg)

Friday – the exams that were to be sat on Tuesday
Dydd Gwener – yr arholiadau a oedd i’w sefyll ar ddydd Mawrth

Tomorrow, Wednesday 13th December 2017

Oherwydd nad yw safle’r ysgol yn ddiogel, ni fydd yr ysgol ar agor yfory.

Due to the fact that the school site is still unsafe, the school will be closed tomorrow.

  • Diana Awards

A group of Year 11 girls had an excellent day in Cardiff at the Diana Awards. The Oasis team were presented with Diana Champion Volunteers Group award for their commitment and considerable time and effort they have put into the Oasis project. The team support Year 7’s in the school by visiting classrooms to get to know the pupils, doing surveys, playing games and covering relevant issues such as bullying. They also put on activities such as dodgeball at  lunchtime to help them mix and settle into school. The team travelled by train to City Hall, Cardiff for the presentation and attended workshops on developing community projects in the afternoon. The awards were presented by the Lord Lieutenant for South Glamorgan with a special guest present – Owain Doull Welsh Olympic Gold Medal Track Cyclist.
