What a week! Heavy snow brought disruption to the area last week, with schools being affected in the same way as every other service. Caereinion School was forced to close its doors for three days, resulting in re-scheduling of Year 11 mock examinations and preventing our concert from being held on Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, due to the number of events already organised in the locality at this time of the year, it has not been possible to reschedule the concert. If you had bought tickets to the December 13th concert, please hand in your tickets at the school office and you will be reimbursed. Unfortunately, we have had to postpone one of the highlights of the school calendar, namely the Senior Citizens’ Tea, which was due to take place on December 19th. This event will definitely be held at another date and details of the rescheduled event will be distributed during the Spring Term.
After the unforeseen closure at the beginning of the week, school resumed its normal routine on Thursday. Not only did pupils and teachers return to lessons, but pupils and teachers also continued with their extra-curricular activities. Christmas Dinner was on the menu on Thursday and a number of pupils took advantage of the opportunity of savouring a traditional Christmas meal.
The school’s Science Club has been busy throughout the term, offering a very interesting and diverse programme. The club’s activities culminated last week with a session making bath-bombs, many of which, I suspect, will find their way to Christmas stockings. Mr Gareth Griffiths and Year 10 Agriculture students braved the winter weather on Friday and went to Deri Woods to plant some trees, an activity which had to be postponed on the previous Friday.
The under 15 RGC rugby match against Neath school which was postponed last Friday was played on Friday afternoon and as mentioned in last week, the team included a most encouraging representation from Caereinion High School.
