This year the School applied for and received £150 of garden vouchers. The grant came from the Natural Buzz scheme run by Keep Wales Tidy, supported by the Welsh Government.
The scheme was to encourage the growing of plants for pollinating insects. All plants had to be from the RHS Perfect for Pollinators Plant list.
Year 10 and 11 Btec Agriculture have helped to prepare and sow a flower meadow on ground where the old portable classrooms were. They also, along with some volunteers, helped plant about 200 bulbs, mostly snowdrops and Aliums. Further to this they have planted lavender, rosemary and thyme outside the Food Technology classroom, these herbs provide a good food source for the insects, but can be used for cooking.
