It is difficult to believe that another term has passed and that the Easter holidays have started. The last half term was short but full of activity and I am thankful to the commitment and diligence of staff and pupils alike, as well as the continued support of governors, parents and friends of the school.
The last week of term started with the good news that both the under 15 and the under 13 rugby teams are through to the North Wales semi finals. We wish the boys well as they prepare for the matches which will be played in April.
Our congratulations also to Year 7 and 8 pupils whose dramatic presentation was deemed to be of a sufficiently high standard to represent the region at the National Urdd Eisteddfod in Builth Wells at the end of May/beginning of June.
On Wednesday, twenty Year 12 pupils visited Llanfyllin High School where students from both schools participated in APAUSE training, a peer led sex education programme. Our pupils’ attitude and demeanour throughout the course was highly praised by the trainer. “Please convey my particular thanks to your students, who were BRILLIANT! They were so friendly and enthusiastic from the start of the day through to the end, it was an absolute joy to work with them…They were receptive to all the material, responding positively to all the tasks and displaying a maturity and thoughtfulness which was uplifting. Their attitude and commitment towards the training day was a real credit to your school.”
On the penultimate day of term, we welcomed Year 5 and 6 students from local primary schools to a gig by the well-known Welsh band Candelas. Our Year 7 pupils also participated in the gig and enjoyed contemporary Welsh music by one of the most prominent Welsh bands.
Congratulations to Fflur Faulkener (Year 10) on winning first prize in her class in an Art competition organised by the Montgomeryshire Society. It was a privilege to welcome Lady Davies of Llandinam to school to present Fflur with her prize.
During lunchtimes recently, there have been hockey matches between boys and girls of all year groups. The results are as follows:
|12 & 13||4||1|
There has been a great sporting atmosphere on the pitch, very competitive and great to watch. We shall look forward to the same spirit after Easter when we hope to hold similar netball matches. The Easter holidays will be a great opportunity to practise!
Although we are currently on holiday, I am aware that many pupils and staff will be in school during the holidays. I am grateful to all those who have given voluntarily of their time to come into school during the holidays.
I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to wish everyone connected to the school a happy and blessed Easter.
